MeshNetworks and ViewSonic Collaborate to Integrate
Mobile Broadband Networking Technology with Mobile Computing Devices
Companies’ Initiatives Poised To Bring Customers Improved Information Access

Orlando, Fla., March 5, 2002 - MeshNetworks, Inc., a leading developer of mobile broadband networking technology, today announced a joint technology and market-development initiative with ViewSonic® Corporation designed to bring personal digital assistants (PDAs) and Tablet PC customers high speed access to the Internet.

The companies, responding to the needs of mobile workers and consumers to improve information access, have agreed to share technology and work together to integrate MeshNetworks’ mobile broadband products with ViewSonic’s mobile computing devices. This initiative will also include exploring the development of a mini-PCI card version of MeshNetworks’ ad hoc peer-to-peer networking products for inclusion in ViewSonic’s next generation SuperPDA and ViewPad™ Tablet PC products.

“The synergy between ViewSonic and MeshNetworks will bring the mobile workforce wirelessly networked handheld computers that rival the performance of today’s wired desktop systems,” said Marc McConnaughey, senior vice president, Advanced Products Group, ViewSonic. “MeshNetworks’ technology, with its ability to make the process of networking more automatic and intuitive, will enable ViewSonic to further enhance the value of its SuperPDAs and tablet PCs.”

MeshNetworks' technology allows mobile computing devices to automatically become part of a network by enabling the devices to interact with each other. This is achieved through patented Multi-Hopping™ routing technology used in conjunction with industry standard WI-FI (802.11) or MeshNetworks’ proprietary, high-performance radios. The system supports IP-based multimedia services (voice, data, video and precision location) for mobile personal Internet devices, as well as for fixed wireless networks.

“MeshNetworks shares ViewSonic’s vision that consumers will demand a fully connected mobile computing platform that offers high-speed data and Internet access,” said Masood Garahi, Chairman and CEO of MeshNetworks. “ViewSonic’s SuperPDAs and Tablet PCs are important examples of the innovative products poised to take advantage of the powerful networking technology we have developed.”

MeshNetworks will be featuring the ViewSonic ViewPad 100 SuperPDA and ViewPad 1000 Tablet PC during demonstrations of its breakthrough mobile peer-to-peer technology, at the CTIA tradeshow in Orlando, from March 18 through March 20, at booth 5585.
