Delphi Tests MeshNetworks’ Mobile Broadband Solution for Telematics
High-speed mobile broadband technology enables always-on entertainment, navigation and web services to vehicles traveling at highway speeds

MAITLAND, Fla. - June 11, 2002 - MeshNetworks, Inc. today announced that Delphi Corporation (NYSE: DPH) has deployed a test network consisting of MeshNetworks’ mobile broadband infrastructure at Delphi’s facilities in Kokomo, Indiana. Delphi is evaluating MeshNetworks’ peer-to-peer networking technology for potential use in high-speed data delivery for in-vehicle information, entertainment and web access. These capabilities are commonly referred to as “telematics.”

The trial network deployed in Kokomo supports voice, video and data at broadband speeds. Planned enhancements include the addition of precision position location capabilities for navigation, and location-aware applications. Position location is inherent to the MeshNetworks QDMA™ wireless technology, and is provided without the use of costly GPS receivers or technology.

“MeshNetworks’ mobile broadband Multi-Hopping‘ technology is ideally suited for the telematics applications that Delphi is investigating,” said Masood Garahi, chairman and CEO of MeshNetworks. “Telematics is one of the fastest growing markets for wireless technologies because it offers services that enhance in-vehicle safety, entertainment and productivity. The key to delivering these advanced services to consumers is cost-effective mobile broadband connectivity.”

Engineering teams from Delphi and MeshNetworks successfully integrated MeshNetworks’ technology into Delphi’s development platforms running both Windows and Linux operating systems.

"MeshNetworks' towerless deployment, compact low-cost infrastructure, and end-to-end IP architecture are critical to delivering high-performance broadband telematics applications at a reasonable price," said Adam Guy, Senior Analyst, Mobile Wireless Research, Strategis Group.

Delphi is the most recent industry leader to join the MeshPartner™ Alliance Program.

MeshNetworks will be demonstrating its breakthrough technology and products at the 802.11 Planet conference & expo in Philadelphia on June 10 - 12, 2002, booth number 308.
