MeshNetworks Teams with ITOCHU Corporation to Bring Wireless Peer-to-Peer Networking to Japan

Orlando, Fla.-October 15, 2001-MeshNetworks, Inc., a leading developer of mobile broadband networking technology, today announced it has signed an agreement with ITOCHU Corporation's Aerospace, Electronics & Multimedia Division to market MeshNetworks' mobile Internet solutions in Japan. Under the terms of the agreement, ITOCHU will assist in introducing and promoting MeshNetworks' technology in Japan. The companies will establish joint marketing initiatives leveraging the vast market knowledge and contacts ITOCHU commands in Japan.

"Japan is a worldwide leader in wireless communications and has a successful history of early adoption of new technology," said Masood Garahi, Chairman and CEO of MeshNetworks. "For us to have the opportunity to team with a powerhouse like ITOCHU means we can get our technology into the hands of Japanese consumers much sooner."

MeshNetworks' patented technology allows mobile devices, such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), mobile phones, and personal computers to network through each other so that the devices become part of the network. MeshNetworks achieves this through a next-generation wireless communications system based on its own proprietary and patented Quad-Division Multiple Access (QDMA™) technology, which provides IP-based multimedia services (voice, data, video and precision location) to mobile personal Internet devices as well as last-mile connectivity for fixed networks.

"We have built our company by identifying early the key technologies for the future," said Hiroo Inoue, general manager, ITOCHU Corporation's Aerospace, Electronics & Multimedia Division. "We share MeshNetworks' vision of the profound changes this technology will offer carriers in Japan and around the globe."
