FCC Grants Approval to MeshNetworks’ Wireless Broadband Product Lines

MAITLAND, FL, November 12, 2002 – MeshNetworks, Inc. today announced that the Federal Communications Commission granted regulatory approval for MeshNetworks’ Mesh Enabled Architecture™ (MEA) mobile wireless broadband and MeshLAN™ Multi-Hopping 802.11 network products. With this approval, MeshNetworks is able to offer these products nationwide.

“This milestone positions MeshNetworks as the first company that can offer low-cost, high-performance ad hoc peer-to-peer mobile broadband and 802.11 products,” said MeshNetworks’ Vice President of Technical Marketing, Rick Rotondo. “Our products can now move out of the trial phase and into customers’ hands.”

MEA mobile broadband products receiving certification include the IAP6300 Intelligent Access Point and MWR6300 Wireless Router. MeshLAN products approved consist of the Multi-Hopping 802.11b AP400 Access Point and WR400 Wireless Router.

“FCC approval demonstrates that MeshNetworks’ products comply with the FCC’s technical requirements – a must for widespread commercial rollout,” noted Allen Nogee, Senior Wireless Analyst at In-Stat/MDR. “MeshNetworks’ ad hoc peer-to-peer networking technology has the potential to really change the way applications and networks are deployed today.”

MeshNetworks' MEA is ideal for a wide range of wireless communications applications, including public safety, transportation and consumer Internet and entertainment. MeshLAN extends the range, throughput, and capacity of industry-standard 802.11 networks, and is well suited for enterprise, industrial, SOHO and residential wireless networking.

The FCC grant comes as MeshNetworks’ was recently named “World’s Best Technology, 2002” by the National Association of Seed and Venture Funds.

MeshNetworks will demonstrate its breakthrough technology and products at COMDEX in Las Vegas on November 18–22 (Booth 11050) and at the 802.11-Planet Conference in Santa Clara on December 3, (Booth 507) in a featured two-hour technical session.
